Averaging Pitot Tubes use multiple ports that allow to average the ϐlow profile. The volumetric flow is calculated by measuring the differential pressure between the four dynamic ports on the upstream side of the sensor and the single static port that is drilled on the downstream side. The use of four dynamic ports allow a better evaluation of the velocity proϐile inside the pipe, providing higher accuracy in the measurement.
In some applications, especially with high inner pipe diameters or Reynolds numbers, the sensor can be subject to vibrations due to flow vortex that generate around the sensor. General Vessels can perform the necessary tests during the design phase and provide proper supports to be mounted on the opposite side of the pipe. A different range of materials, process connections and orientations are available. General Vessels provides complete Engineering support from initial design and sizing concepts to manufactured final products.
